Apply for an equivalence or exemption for a training

Working group on "equivalences and exemptions" of the Higher Council for the Training of Members of Public Emergency Services.

The Working group on "equivalences and exemptions" of the Higher Council for the Training of Members of Public Emergency Services handles applications from members of the Belgian emergency response zones and the Civil Protection. It advises provincial training centres on applications for equivalences for degrees, courses or certificates, as well as on applications for exemptions from courses and examinations, in the context of fire service training.

For instance, if you have already completed training that is equivalent to training you still need to complete, you can submit a request to this working group. A concrete example: Person X has completed training as a first-aider/ambulance driver and therefore has a valid ‘112’ badge. He/she can therefore apply for an exemption for module 10 "First Aid" of the B01 training.

How to fill out an application

If you want to submit an application, please complete the “Application form for an equivalence or exemption” and attach the necessary supporting documents (degrees, certificates, attestations, etc.). Then send this application to the following email address: dir.repere.scv@ibz.be

Existing equivalences and exemptions

A number of equivalences and exemptions are already described in the following decrees. You are automatically granted these, so you no longer need to submit an application to this end.

Art. 67 of the Royal Decree on Training of 18 November 2015 already provides for certain equivalences and provisions. You are automatically granted these, so you no longer need to submit an application to this end.

Art. 20 of the Ministerial Decree of 21 March 2019 provides for an exemption for Part 1 – Fire Prevention Advisor of the PREV-1 training.

Articles 14 to 16 of the Ministerial Decree of 5 April 2019 provide for an exemption from the FOROP-1 and FOROP-2 training.
